Nasos Grigoropoulos has successfully defended his PhD on “System Support for the Fault Tolerance, Testing and Orchestration of Drone Applications”. The first part of the thesis focuses on tolerating simple crash failures as well as byzantine failures of a centralized controller that executes coordinated drone-based missions expressed as proper computer programs. The second part of the thesis tackles the problem of supporting the flexible testing, deployment and orchestration of distributed drone applications consisting of different interacting software components that run on the drone, at the edge and in the cloud.
