AeroLoop
Flexible experimentation with virtual UAVs through a software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop simulation infrastructure
Overview
The project concerns the development of a simulation environment that allows the user to conduct experiments with multiple virtual unmanned aerial vehicles (vUAVs) in a cheap, flexible, controlled and safe way, before trying out system-software and missions in the real world. The AeroLoop system will support both software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop simulation modes, while taking advantage of available flight simulation engines/models. It will also support the ad-hoc communication between UAVs via a simulated WiFi network, as well as virtual cameras on the vUAVs. The AeroLoop system will be integrated into the wider infrastructure of RAWFIE as a virtual testbed.
